Spring Challenge Day 5: Rainbow

I've completed my second challenge! Yay! For the final day in the spring challenge, the theme was rainbows.  I decided to do a sponge-gradient, and I think it came out pretty good for my first time.  It was a little messy, but I liked the result and will probably do another one soon.

I used two coats of wet n wild french white creme, the thumb is Maybelline Express Finish in Sweet Clementine, the pointer is Ulta Sun-Sational, the middle finger is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet, the ring finger is Maybelline Express Finish in Pie in the Sky, and the pinky is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac.  I used Sally Hansen Complete Care 4-in-1 treatment for base coat and top coat.

Overall, I really enjoyed this challenge, I liked using the different combinations and how you had to plan them out.  It was challenging, but I enjoyed participating.

Sinful Colors Cinderella with Revlon Whimsical!

I saw Cinderella at Walgreens and I was so excited!  It's such a pretty color, and it was on sale for 99 cents!  Whoo-hoo!  I love this color.  Its perfect for spring, the blue has a slight shimmer to it, and it is just a beatuiful color!  The first picture is more like what it looks like, but the other pictures you can see the shimmer in it a little.

I got Whimsical a few weeks back, and wore it over China Glaze For Audrey on my toes, but I didn't have a perfect color to layer it over.  Until now..

I didn't think I'd love a color with random pieces of glitter, especially not different colors, but I LOVE IT!  It's so pretty and I love everything about it.

I used essie grow faster base coat, which I hope is helping my nails, because some of them are wicked short and I don't like it.  Two coats of Cinderella, and two coats of Whimsical and seche vite for a top coat.

Revlon Carbonite

Revlon Carbonite is a very pretty silver/gray color.  It is a very nice color, but not necessarily my style.  It appears almost matte to me, even with a top coat.  The color seems to be gray with silver flecks, but it is very difficult to distinguish the actual color.  It is pretty though, and didn't have any chips after a day, which is good in my book.

I used essie grow faster, two coats of Revlon Carbonite, and seche vite for a top coat.

Finger Paints Art You Wondering?

Finger Paints Art You Wondering is a pretty teal glittery polish.   Its a mixture of teal and green glittery pieces.  It's so pretty and it really sparkles in the sunlight.

I used essie grow faster base coat, three coats of Art You Wondering and seche vite.

Spring Challenge Day 4: Bugs

When I thought of bugs, I thought of grass and caterpillars and bees.  Then I realized I have two very pale green nail polishes, and neither would really look good as grass.  So I decided to do a nice light green with yellow stamped and yellow stamped with green.   I'm not quite sure if a butterfly is a bug, but for the sake of the challenge, i'm considering it a bug.  I used my salon express stamping kit for this and one bundle monster stamp, because there were a butterfly's and a firefly or a dragonfly, not quite sure which, that I used.  I really liked this, the stamps were very light, but I liked that you had to take a closer look to see the design.

I used Sally Hansen Complete Care 4-in-1 treatment for base coat and top coat.  Two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Chartreuse Chase (Green) and Two Coats of Ulta Sun-Sational (Yellow) and stamped with the opposite color.

Last Friday Night vs Hottie

I love Katy Perry and nail polish, so of course I had to have the Katy Perry collection.  I originally got the mini's, but then bought a full sized bottle of Last Friday Night and Not Like the Movies, which coincidentally are two of my favorite Katy Perry songs.  My sister had Sinful Colors Hottie, and I wanted to see how it looked next to Last Friday Night, and I was surprised to see the difference.  I used two coats of China Glaze Frostbite over essie grow faster, which is an awesome bright blue.  I usually wear Last Friday Night over a more navy blue, but I wanted to try out Frostbite.

In the bottle, they look exactly the same.

 But on the nail..
Last Friday Night on pointer and ring finger, hottie on middle finger and pinkie.  One coat of each.

Last Friday Night on middle finger and pinkie, two coats.  One coat of hottie on pointer and ring.

As you can see, hottie has more silver glitter and has more coverage.  Last Friday Night has less silver glitter, but more pink/blue glitter, which is very pretty.  They are both very pretty, and I really like the look of both of them.

Perfect Peach

This is a pretty spring/summer color from sally hansen's nailgrowth miracle line.  It really is a perfect peach color.  I'm not sure if it really helps grow your nails, but I hope so!

Two coats of Sally Hansen nailgrowth miracle in Perfect Peach with seche vite.

Spring Challenge Day 3: Fruit and Dots

For the third day of the spring challenge I wanted to do watermelon nails.  I picked the pink and green combination, so now I have to use green and yellow for the bugs theme.  I love this design! It's so simple, but it's so cute!  I am definitely going to do this in the summer.

The last picture shows the green shimmers, which is more like what it seems in real life.  The pink is exactly as it is in the others though.  I used two coats of Revlon Raspberry Rapture.  This is scented and smells like raspberries, so it looks like watermelon but smells like raspberries!  Haha.  And I never knew raspberry had a p in it until just now.  I was going to use my strawberry scent and do strawberries, but I was very set on watermelon at that point.  I'm sure I'll try that out in the summer.  I used two coats of sinful colors HD Nails for the tips, and dotted using wet n wild black creme.

Navy Baby!

Today I put on two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in navy baby.  This is SUCH a dark blue, I was like how close is this to black? Is it black?  Or is it a REALLY dark blue?  I'm not quite sure but Its a very dark color.  I knew it needed something, so I put on a coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Diamonds.

This held up pretty well, and I liked it alot.  But the tips chipped a very little bit at work.  I wanted to keep it on, so I added a little bit of Navy Baby to the tips that chipped.  I added another coat of Diamonds too, to make it more sparkly.  I got an idea to make the tips Navy Baby and the rest with diamonds.

I loved it like this and think it looked so cute.  I didn't use a base or top coat because the complete manicure polish has those built in along with strengthener and nail growth stuff.  Yay!

Spring Challenge Day 2: Flowers and Stripes

Today I decided to use purple and blue with flower stickers for the spring challenge.  I started using tape, but then just decided to use the brush to make the stripes.  I think this is very spring-y and I like it for that reason, but it's not the kind of thing I would normally wear.

I used Sally Hansen Complete Care 4-in-1 treatment for base coat.  The blue color is Maybelline Express Finish in Pie in the Sky, two coats.  The purple stripe is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Lacey Lilac.  The stickers are Kiss 3D Tip & Toe art.  They weren't 3D, but they were very simple, you just stuck them on.  After a little while they seemed to sink into my nails, and you can kind of see in the second picture how the leaves detached from the flower.

Tuxedo Nails!

I had band festival, and we had to wear our uniforms, which include a bowtie.  This gave me the perfect opportunity to try out tuxedo nails, and I was so excited.  I found so many pictures online, and I just tried to create little bows with dots to complete them.

I used Sally Hansen Complete Care for a base and top coat, two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme, and Wet n Wild Black Creme for the bow, buttons and tip.  I used a dotting tool for the bow and the buttons.

I used two coats of Revlon Top Speed Candy and two coats of Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter, using Sally Hansen Complete Care as a base coat and top coat.

Julep Maven Box!

I tried Julep for the 'try for one cent' promotion, and I was pretty pleased with the results.  You take a quiz, to find your style and then you get to pick if you want that box, or another style box.  I decided to keep my quiz result box, which was American Beauty.  The box came shortly after, and it had two polishes, and a Glycolic Hand Scrub.  It was packaged very cutely, and it came with a nail file, a bow wrapped around the polishes and some confetti like material.

The first polish was Pennelope which is a pale pink color.  I normally don't like or wear colors like this, but I actually kind of liked it on.  it was very spring-y which I liked.  I used three coats in the pictures.

The next polish was Portia, a light sparkly blue.  This color is very pretty, and also very spring-y.  I used one coat of Wet n Wild French White Creme and three coats of Portia.

The Glycolic Hand Scrub is wonderful!  At first I was like oh a hand scrub that's not really cool but I'll try it.  I was so surprised at it.  It was so exfoliating and it my hands feel so smooth afterwards and applying lotion.  This is such a good product to get smooth hands.

I really enjoyed the Julep products, but I don't think I'll keep subscribing unless there's something I really like in one of the boxes.  The formula of the nail polishes is good, but I don't think it's that great in comparison to OPI, Essie or China Glaze.

Spring Challenge Day 1: Love and Life

Today is the first day of the spring challenge and the challenge is to do love and life using one of the four color combinations.  I originally wanted to do a light pink, with orange hearts over it, but I could not find that nail polish.  I decided to do a splatter design with orange and pink instead.  It was kind of messy, and hard to do, but the end result is kind of cool.  The colors are so similar, its hard to see them without flash, but the dull pictures without really being able to see the difference is what it actually looks like.  Pink is to represent love and orange life, because that's my favorite color.

I used Sally Hansen Complete Care 4-in-1 treatment for base and top coat, one coat of NYC Long-Wearing Nail Enamel in Times Square Tangerine Orange, and splattered using NYC Long-Wearing Nail Enamel in Pink Promenade Creme.
